Do blockchain devs have a responsibility to opt for more eco-friendly consensus algorithms, or is the benefits of PoW worth the carbon footprint?

I'm all for ditching PoW for eco-friendly alternatives. Not only does it reduce the carbon footprint, but it also opens up new opportunities for scalability and security. Looks like consensus algorithms like PoS or PoA are the way forward!
