"Hey fellow miners, I'm new to solo mining and I'm excited to learn more. I'm looking to set up a secure home node, but I'm not sure where to start - I've heard horror stories about equipment getting fried and coins getting hacked. Can anyone point me to some beginner-friendly resources or share their own experiences with setting up a secure home node?"

"Awesome thread! Just a heads up for the newbies, make sure to check your internet connection and power supply before setting up, don't wanna lose your nodes cause of a dropped connection"

"Just wanted to chime in, folks. I recently set up a home node for solo mining and can attest to the importance of proper firewall configs and secure connections. Make sure to keep your OS and mining software up to date, too."

"Hey guys, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents - for a beginner, I'd recommend using a pre-built rig like a mining PC or a dedicated device. This way, you can avoid having to mess with assembling a custom rig and all the hassle that comes with it. Just make sure to get one with good cooling and power efficiency"

"Hey OP, just wanna say I've had success with the Raspberry Pi 4 for a home node. It's a low-power, low-cost option that's easy to set up and maintain. Make sure to follow the latest security updates, though."

"Hey guys, just a heads up on this one - I used a Raspberry Pi for my home node and it works like a charm. Make sure to update your OS and install fail2ban to prevent any potential DDOS attacks. Also, don't forget to secure your node with a complex password and keep it up-to-date"

"Hey guys, just wanted to chime in on the solo mining setup - make sure you're using a reputable hardware wallet to store your coins, since you'll be generating them directly on your node. Also, don't forget to update your OS and software regularly to stay secure. Anyone having issues with Electrum or the like?"
