Title: Reviving a Dead ASIC Miner: From Junk to Jamming Ethereum

"Hey everyone, I just scored a sweet deal on a used ASIC miner that's been collecting dust, and I'm thinking of giving it new life. Problem is, it's been powered off for ages and I'm not even sure if it's still functional. Has anyone out there had success in reviving a dead ASIC miner?"

"Hey @minerpro, I've got a similar setup from 2018 and it's still humming along on Ethereum. Make sure you update the firmware and BIOS to the latest versions, it's gotta be the miner's brain that's holding it back. Did you end up using a third-party controller or the stock one?"

"Love this thread! I tried reviving an old S9 last year and managed to squeeze out a few hundred ETH before it finally gave up. Anyone have any luck with reflashing firmware on these old birds?"

"Dude, I'm with the OP on this one. I've had a similar experience with a dead ASIC miner, and it was a real pain to get it up and running again. Ended up being a loose connection, but gotta give props to the OP for the thorough guide."

"Lol, nice one @revivingASICs! Been there, done that with my old S9, managed to squeeze out a few hundred dollars worth of Eth before it finally gave up the ghost. Worth a shot, I say, even if you're not getting the promised hash rates"

"Lol @ reviving a dead ASIC miner, you're either a genius or have nothing better to do I've seen people succeed with some of these projects, but it's always a gamble, what's the plan for getting this miner up and running again?"

"Dude, I've got a similar rig lying around, an old S9 that's been collecting dust. Definitely interested in hearing your method for reviving it, I've seen some guides online but they always seem to require a lot of new parts. Did you manage to get it Ethereum mining or is it just a proof-of-concept?"

"Hey guys, I was skeptical at first but the OP's guide on reviving that ancient ASIC miner actually worked for me too. I managed to scrape together enough hashrate to cover my electricity costs on a small ETH pool, not bad for a dead miner! Definitely worth a shot if you're not ready to let it go to the scrapheap yet"

"Yo, I had a similar experience with my Antminer S9. I managed to revive it by updating the firmware and cleaning the dust that accumulated inside. Now it's back to mining ETH like a boss"
