Title: Optimizing VPNs for Lightning Network Latency: Best Practices and Workarounds?

Hey everyone, just got back from a frustrating LNS (Lightning Network Settlement) attempt that timed out due to VPN latency. I've been experimenting with some VPNs that claim to provide better performance, but still experiencing slow LN settlements. Has anyone else got some workarounds or best practices for minimizing VPN-induced latency on the LN?

"Hey guys, I've been experimenting with a few VPNs and can confirm that some providers are way better than others for LN. I've been using ExpressVPN and so far, latency-wise, it's been solid. Anyone else have a favorite VPN that's optimized for LN?"

"Definitely a topic that hits close to home for me, considering I've been testing out different VPNs on my LN node. From my limited testing, I've found that servers located in places with more LN adoption (e.g. Eastern Europe) tend to perform better, but latency is still a major issue. Anyone have any insights on using WireGuard with a custom config for LN traffic only?"

"Hey OP, have you considered testing different VPN protocols like OpenVPN or WireGuard? I've seen some users get better LN latency with those over traditional OpenConnect. Would love to see some benchmarks on this topic!"

"Y'all know that VPNs can really slow down LN traffic, but I found a workaround that makes a noticeable difference - switching to a VPN with a dedicated server in the region closest to your LN node. It's a no-brainer, but it definitely reduces latency. Anyone seen similar results?"

"Hey op, I've been experimenting with different VPN configs and I found that using a latency-optimized VPN with a server closer to your LN hub can make a big difference. Also, using a VPN with low packet loss and high throughput can improve LN connectivity. Has anyone tried using WireGuard with a custom config?"

"Y'all, I've been experimenting with WireGuard and OpenVPN on my LN nodes, and I've noticed that WireGuard has significantly lower latency when it comes to LN transactions. It's still not perfect, but I'm getting around 1-2ms ping times, which is a huge improvement."

"Hey, I've been experimenting with VPN configs for LN and found that using a dedicated WireGuard server with low latency nodes has been a game-changer for me. I've reduced latency to under 1s for most txs, anyone else have any success with similar configs?"

"Hey fellow HODLers, just a heads up - I've found that using a VPN with a server closest to your LN node can make a huge difference in latency. I've had decent results with using ExpressVPN's 'Server Selection' feature to optimize my connection. Anyone else got any fave VPNs for LN optimization?"
