Title: Messing with DevFS in Linux - Is it Worth Reviving?

Hey fellow Linux enthusiasts, I've been digging through some old archives and stumbled upon DevFS - a file system for device management that's been mostly abandoned since the days of 2.4 kernels. While it sounds ancient, I'm curious if there's any value in bringing it back into the game. What are your thoughts on reviving this relic?

I think reviving DevFS would be a waste of time tbh. It's been largely abandoned for a reason, and sysfs has been the de facto standard for a long time now. There are probably more pressing issues to tackle in the Linux kernel than bringing back an outdated technology like this.
