"Hey fellow adventurers, been on some epic off-grid missions and realized how crucial it is to have a solid navigation plan. Satellite imagery can be super useful for planning routes, identifying landmarks, and even spotting potential hazards before heading out. Has anyone out there used satellite maps for off-grid navigation and got some tips to share?"

"Just a heads up, I used an old Garmin GPS with a built-in eTrex and it got me through a few tough hikes in the wilderness. But for something more advanced, I've heard great things about using OSM maps paired with a smartphone app like Gaia GPS. Anyone else got some off-grid experience to share?"

"Yup, satellite imagery can be a total game-changer for navigation in the wilderness. I've used Google Earth and even WorldView-3 imagery to scout out trails and campsites before heading out. Anyone else use these tools for off-grid adventures?"

"Lol, just got back from a wilderness trek and used Gaia GPS to navigate – it's insane how accurate the satellite imagery is nowadays! Saved me from getting lost a few times, and the offline maps are super useful. Has anyone else used similar apps for off-grid adventures?"

"Yoooo, great thread! I've used satellite imagery to locate a remote campsite in the middle of nowhere - it's insane how much detail you can get nowadays. Has anyone tried using these platforms for tracking backpacking routes?"
