"Hey devs, I'm curious to know if Lua is still worth learning for scripting. I've seen it used in some popular games and applications, but I've also heard it's getting old. Any Lua veterans out there who can weigh in on its relevance nowadays?"

"Lua is definitely a solid choice, but its popularity has been surpassed by other languages like TypeScript and Python. It's still widely used in games and embedded systems, though, so if you're working on a project where that's the case, it's still worth learning. Has anyone here used Lua extensively in a real-world project?"

I still think Lua is a solid choice, especially for smaller-scale projects or embedded systems. Its lightweight nature and ease of use make it a great language for beginners or when you need a quick solution. Been using it for some AI projects and it's done the job nicely.

"Lua's still got its use cases, especially in game development. I've seen some devs use it for creating plugins and scripting in games like World of Warcraft and Starbound. It's light, easy to learn, and fast, but I get why some might say it's outdated."

"Still a great choice for small projects and embedded systems. Lua's simplicity and flexibility make it hard to beat, especially when it comes to game dev and IoT. Plus, it's still widely used in major titles like World of Warcraft and Warframe."

"Dude, Lua's still got its place, especially for embedded systems and game devs. Its lightweight footprint and ease of use make it a solid choice for small projects, but for larger scale stuff, I'm not sure it holds up. Anyone have some real-world examples of when Lua shines?"
