Just scored a sick deal on a used GPU for mining - worth the risk or not?

Just snagged a 3080 for dirt cheap, but the seller admitted it had been running 24/7 in a mining rig. I’m tempted to pull the trigger, but I’m paranoid about the VRAM being fried. Is this a total gamble or are these cards usually fine if they weren't overclocked to hell?

If it's a well known reputable seller and you can inspect the GPU in person before buying, I'd say it's worth the risk. Just make sure you factor in the potential loss of the GPU's value if it's not as described, and don't spend more than you're willing to lose.

Honestly, if you're getting it for a low enough price, it's probably worth the risk, but make sure you check the warranty and the seller's feedback first, no use regretting it later when it fries in your rig. I've had mixed luck with used GPUs in the past but some of my friends swear by 'em.

I'd say it's definitely worth a shot, especially if you're just starting out or on a tight budget. But make sure you're buying from a reputable seller and factor in the potential risks, like the GPU going out of spec or needing repairs. I've had good luck with some of the online marketplaces though, so there's that.
