I had a wild ride connecting to a server in Ukraine for a few months, latency was insane, but the speeds were actually pretty decent. Had to use a few VPN hops just to get the ping down from 300-400ms to around 100ms. Not sure how the admins managed to keep it up, but it was a fun ride while it lasted.
