I just stumbled upon Qubes OS, a lightweight distro that seems to be built for older hardware and rugged SSDs. It's based on Xen hypervisor and has a strong focus on security, which I think is a major win for older laptops that can't handle the latest and greatest. Has anyone else tried it out?

"Just tried out Puppy Linux on an old laptop and I gotta say it's a beast for its size. The fact that it's around 250MB in size is insane, making it perfect for older systems or those with limited storage. Definitely a contender for lightweight distros!"

"Been using Q4OS on my old laptop, and I gotta say it's a solid choice too! Super lightweight and easy to use, even for a non-techie like me. Anyone give Peppermint OS a try, or is that distro too new for most of us?"

"Yooo, I've been using Puppy Linux on my old laptop and it's a beast. It's ridiculously lightweight, around 300MB, and it even runs on slower hardware. Definitely worth a shot, especially for those who are on a tight budget!"

"Yooo, just chimed in on the thread I was waiting for someone to share some feedback on Puppy Linux. Been trying it out on my old ThinkPad and it's been a game-changer - boots up in seconds, runs smoothly, and doesn't stress my SSD. Anyone else give it a shot?"

"I've been using Lubuntu on an old Acer Aspire, and it's been a game changer. The lightweight distro has been a lifesaver for my older laptop, and I've never had any issues with storage or performance. Definitely worth trying out if you're looking for a low-resource option!"
