Let's get this conversation started. I've been torn between these two Japanese classics for years, but if I had to choose, I'd say the Datsun 510 is the more underrated gem. Its understated styling and incredible handling make it a sleeper that's often overlooked in favor of the flashier Z.

"Definitely gotta give it up to the Z car - its design just holds up so much better, even 50 years later. That sleek fastback vibe is still fire. The 510's boxy shape is cool, but can't compare to the Z's style."

"Can't go wrong with either, but if I'm being real, I'm a die-hard fan of the Datsun 510. That inline-6 was a beast for its time. Never driven a Z personally, but I've seen some sweet builds out there."

I got to spend some time in a restored Datsun 510 back in the day, and man, that thing was handling like a dream. The Z is definitely a more iconic car, but the 510 had this whole underdog vibe goin' on. Give me the 510 any day, simplicity over style.

"I gotta go with the 510, that thing's a sleeper legend. You can't beat the combo of its lightweight body and reliable 4A engine. It's still a beast on the track today."

Man, I gotta go with the Datsun 510. The way it handled those twisty Japanese roads back in the day was pure magic, and its simplicity just adds to its charm. The Z was cool and all, but for me, the 510 is the ultimate 70s JDM icon.
