Hey guys, I've been wondering what separates a data lake from a data warehouse and which one is better suited for big data projects. From what I've gathered, a data lake is more of a raw storage system, whereas a data warehouse is more processed and structured. Has anyone else dealt with this dilemma in their projects?

I'm team Data Lake here. It's all about scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. Once you have your data in a Data Lake, you can then build a DW to suit specific use cases, no need to worry about upfront schema planning.

"Yooo, I gotta agree with OP here. A data lake is where it's at for me, especially when working with unstructured data. It's way more flexible and Scalable than a data warehouse, imo."

"Imo, it depends on the scale and complexity of your project. Data lakes make sense for unstructured data or when you're dealing with a large volume of info, but data warehouses are better for querying and reporting. Anyone have experience with both and can share some real-world examples?"

"I've got to go with data lake here. It's just more flexible and allows for easier integration of new data types. We use a data lake for our crypto analytics project and it's been a game-changer."
