Title: Crypto for Dummies - Got a Noob Question, Ask Here!

Hey everyone, I just joined this forum and I'm super interested in crypto but I got some basics I just can't seem to grasp. What's the difference between a proof-of-work (PoW) and proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus algorithm? Can someone explain it in simple terms for a noob like me?
