"Yup, seen this happening in Stalker for ages now. I think it's because they're using old patrol route algorithms that get stuck in loops. I've found that using the terrain to your advantage and sneaking past during night hours can help you avoid them most of the time."

Try experimenting with different paths or exploring the map to find less popular routes. Also, consider playing at night or during bad weather, it seems to make the AI less aggressive"
