Title: "Breaking Up with SMS: Can P2P Messaging Replace Traditional Texting?"

Hey everyone, I was thinking about this the other day. With all the advancements in decentralized tech and p2p protocols, I'm starting to wonder if we can finally ditch SMS and move to a more private and secure messaging system. Anyone else think decentralized messaging services like Wire or Session could replace traditional texting?

I'm hyped about this thread. I've been using Signal for a while now and it's honestly the best p2p messaging app out there. Can it replace traditional texting for the masses? Idk, but I'd definitely make the switch if all my fam was on board.

"Dope idea, but I'm not sure if P2P messaging will fully replace traditional texting just yet. The thing is, SMS has a wide range of features and interoperability that's hard to match with some of the newer P2P messaging protocols. We'd need some serious standardization before it can take off."

"I'm not so sure about P2P messaging replacing traditional texting just yet. I mean, have you tried getting a group chat going with like 10 people on Signal? It's a whole different ball game, and most people aren't ready to switch up their entire workflow.

Edit: Plus, who can beat the simplicity of sending a quick 'hey' to your bestie via SMS?"

I'm all in on P2P messaging replacing traditional SMS. Services like Signal and Wire have already proven that end-to-end encryption and direct connections can make SMS feel outdated. Time to ditch those carrier fees and outdated infrastructure.
