Обнаружил тут, что в списке 500 лучших альбомов всех времён (по версии журнала Rolling Stone) от группы числятся London Calling (на весьма почетном 8-м месте), дебютный альбом The Clash (77 место) и тройной альбом Sandinista! (404 место). Списочек этот, конечно, вещь странная, и к тому, как в нем расположены альбомы, вполне возможны вопросы и претензии. Например, в нем 41 позицию занимает альбом Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols (группы Sex Pistols), а на 43 месте стоит The Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd). Это чтобы четверо едва бацающих на гитарах чуваков, которые никогда и петь толком не умели (пристойный вокалист - Сид Вишиз - появился в группе уже после этого альбома), и у них получился альбом лучше, чем The Dark Side of the Moon? Чего-то тут не в порядке, мне кажется! Но, тем не менее, как бы к списку этому не относиться, The Clash в нем отметился очень и очень неплохо.

Обнаружил, что в этой ветке систематически выкладывали альбомы группы, но ссылочки уже умерли. Вот решил восполнить новыми.

Честно говорю, что я не поклонник записей The Clash начального периода, пока они исполняли ничем не разбавленный панк-рок. Поэтому никак комментировать сегодняшнюю раздачу не буду.

Согласно Википедии, Сенди Перлман, продюссировавший этот альбом, был не в восторге от голоса Джо Страммера, вокалиста группы, и специально сделал так, чтобы на всем альбоме ударные звучали громче, чем его голос. Эта "фишка" была поправлена в 1999 г. при оцифровке этого альбома. Вроде здесь как раз такая исправленная версия.

Двойной альбом, вышедший на рубеже двух десятилетий: в Англии в декабре 1979 г. и в январе 1980 г. в США. Поэтому сумел попасть в различные списки лучших альбомов как 70-х, так и 80-х годов, не говоря уже про списки лучших альбомов всех времен. Короче, несомненная классика. Как всегда у The Clash, тексты предельно политизированы, и неподготовленного слушателя сильно долбают по башке. В прошлом году такая, например, история приключилась: чувака, слушавшего песню London Calling по дороге в аэропорт, везший его таксист счел террористом и настучал на него в полицию (читать здесь). Еще про группу (и сабжевый альбом) есть очень хорошая статейка на antipunk.com и похуже - на сайте РКСМ(б); в последнем случае - это немного корявый перевод с буржуинского.
